Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter needs a new home. The shelter has outgrown its aging site off U.S. Highway 41 near Marquette. “It’s old, it’s small, we really depend a lot on foster homes for the overflow,” UPAWS President Reva Laituri says. The aging building is having more and more problems and it’s hard to house horses or the pigs, chickens or goats sometimes brought in. Find out how to help at www.upaws.org, which features adoptable pets, clothing and gift items with the UPAWS logo and a “wish list” of items from pet toys to postage stamps. Call the shelter at 906-475-6661.
