Contained in Copper
This 6-by-6-by-7.5-inch shining bowl to hold treasures is a treasure itself, hand-hammered from copper by silversmith Linda L. Brown in Thunder Bay. “The lid was texture hammered over a Lake Superior beach boulder,” says Linda. The hammer marks represent the textured waters of Lake Superior. The jackpine tree on the lid is handcarved from sterling silver and “grows” through a Lake Superior beach stone riveted underneath with a nugget of pure silver. Linda’s work can be found at Northern Lights Gallery and Studio in Thunder Bay (807-345-5446) or seen online at www.northernlightsgallery.ca.
