The cold, rain and fog couldn't put a damper on the 37th annual Grandma's Marathon, and the weather certainly didn't slow down 23-year-old Sarah Kiptoo, whose 2:26:32 run time smashed the women's course record by 33 seconds.
In all, 5,614 runners finished the marathon on Saturday, which starts in Two Harbors, Minnesota, and ends in Duluth's Canal Park. Twenty-two-year-old Bazu Worku won the men's race in 2:11:14.
John Klecker won the men's Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in 1:09:19. Mary Davies bested the field for the women's title, in 1:11:07.
Krige Shabort won the men's wheelchair race, and Amanda McGrory won the women's.
