After a 25-year hiatus from making art while working in Douglas County Human Services, Gary Nelson depicts aspects of the human experience and conditions in an intense body of artwork in colorful pastels, pencil, and craypas. Opens September 27 in the Superior Council for the Arts North End Arts Gallery.

Since retiring, Nelson has focused his energies entirely on developing a new body of artwork in which he encourages individual responses to images in his art.

Artists Reception is 5 to 7 p.m. on September 27 and is free and open to the public. The exhibit can be viewed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays until November 26.
