Trampled by Turtles at Big Top Chautauqua

Big Top Chautauqua is thrilled to have Trampled by Turtles as our opening preseason 2012 show this Friday June 15 with Charlie Parr as our opening act. TBT’s sound is a bracing hybrid of classic American songwriting, bluegrass and folk. This is forceful acoustic music from the land of ice and snow – of dark winters, isolation and numbing cold – delivered at breakneck pace with the fervor of religion. Charlie Parr has recorded in warehouses, garages, basements and storefronts, usually on vintage equipment, which gives his work the historic feel of field recordings. It's not because he wants to sound like he was discovered 75 years ago by Alan Lomax; it's because most modern recording studios make the reticent and self-effacing Parr feel uncomfortable.
