The North Shore Commercial Fishing Museum in Tofte hosts its sixth annual Storytelling Dinner Friday, October 9, at Lutsen Resort on Lake Superior. The theme is "Fishing Through the Ages" and features speakers from three generations: Walt Sve, Brian Tofte and Eric Tofte. The dinner will include a sneak preview of the museum's new exhibit opening in 2016 featuring photographs and audio from Georgie Dunn. Georgie documented commercial fishing on Lake Superior from 1979-1984 in photos and audio recordings for her master's degree in photojournalism. She has given her collection to the museum. At the dinner will be black and white photos of well-known fishermen Helmer Aakvik and wife Christine, Tommy Eckel, Clint Maxwell, Dan Rau and Stan Sivertson. The social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. and the Scandinavian dinner is at 6:15 p.m., with dessert and program at 7:15 p.m. The cost is $50 per person, which includes a donation to the museum. For reservations, call Lutsen Resort, 218-663-7212, by noon, October 9. See www.commercialfishingmuseum.org for more information, or call the museum at 218-663-7050.
