Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua: Punch Brothers with Chris Thile
to
Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua Ski Hill Road, Bayfield, Wisconsin 54814
Punch Brothers formed in 2006 by mandolinist/singer Chris Thile with four other musicians: fiddler Gabe Witcher, banjo player Noam Pikelny, bassist Paul Kowert and guitarist Chris Eldridge. Their first Nonesuch record, Punch, was released in 2008 and combined elements of the band’s many musical interests, including indie rock, folk, jazz, bluegrass and classical music. Their latest release, Who’s Feeling Young Now, was released earlier this year. Punch Brothers are featured twice on the new T-Bone Burnett produced Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond album--once on the song they wrote, “Dark Days,” and a second time backing their friends Secret Sisters on “Tomorrow Will Be Kinder.” Thile has appeared at the Big Top twice before, once with the band Nickel Creek and once with his first solo incarnation, “The How to Grow a Band.” For more information, contact Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua at 888-244-8368 or visit www.bigtop.org. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
