Herbster Smelt Fry

Smelt will be “running” and so should you, to the Historical Gym in Herbster, WI on Lenawee Road from 3 to 6 p.m. Come enjoy all-you-can-eat Lake Superior smelt caught by Halvorson’s Fisheries of Cornucopia, served along with Captain Ken’s famous Firehouse baked beans, coleslaw and all the fixings. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for those 12 and under. Proceeds from admissions will go toward replacing the roof on our Historic Gym building.

New this year is a 50/50 raffle. First place will be 50 percent of the proceeds from raffle ticket sales; second place will be a homemade quilt generously donated by the South Shore Quilters. Tickets for the raffle will be available through our members for $2 per ticket or $5 for 3 tickets. Remaining raffle proceeds will go towards the Herbster Community Club scholarship fund. Another way to contribute to the scholarship fund is by purchasing delicious homemade desserts, donated by our community.

Many wonderful door prizes are being collected, thanks to our members and many generous merchants. The door prize profits will be donated to our South Shore Ambulance service to help equip our new EMT’s that will soon be finishing training.
