Beaver Bay Trailhead Project Public Meeting
to
Beaver Bay Community Center 711 MacDonald Avenue , Beaver Bay, Minnesota 55601
The Beaver Bay Trailhead Project will be discussed in a meeting at the Beaver Bay Community Center just off Highway 61. The meeting will include details on the preliminary engineering design concepts by LHB Corp., on which people can offer comments. The trailhead will be at the corner of Highway 61 and County Road 4 and will serve as an anchor for the Gitchi-Gami State Trail. Lake County is the sponsor for funds to construct the Beaver Bay Trailhead Center in fiscal year 2014. The preliminary engineering designs will address pavement and erosion control to the now-gravel parking lot at the location, and include visitor amenities such as a vault toilet, drinking water, landscaping, park and ride spaces for commuters, an overlook to the Beaver River and structure and location of interpretive kiosks. The project will also address improvements to the entrance and parking lot of the Bay Area Historical Society building across the street and road improvements to County Road 4 and the bridge over the Beaver River to accommodate the new extension of the Gitchi-Gami State Trail.
