Kick off the start of Memorial Day by spending the holiday weekend on Cook County’s North Shore. Folks in Grand Marais, Lutsen and Tofte have planned a special opening weekend for visitors, which includes gallery tours, concerts and hands-on classes that range from papermaking to making silver jewelry. The first annual “Art Along the Lake” gallery tour is a collaboration by 11 local art galleries that will offer special activities Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as select evening events.
Visitors can engage in creative, family-friendly hands-on activities, tour a gallery or watch master artisans at work. The weekend will be a celebration of all the senses, with evening music by the SplinterTones, Gordon Thorne, as well as duo Eric Frost and Bill Hansen, and more.
