Are you interested in further enhancing and enriching your knowledge of the Anishinaabemowin Language? Enroll with Instructor Mike for a weekly 1-hour session throughout August, where he will concentrate on the language and cover the following topics:
* Extended sentence structure
* Compound word formation
* Obviation
We are thrilled to announce that this series will be available both in person and online, making it accessible to participants whether they are nearby or far away. Please note that this is not a basic beginner course; prior experience with the language is required to attend. We encourage you to bring any questions you may have about the language and culture – your curiosity is most welcome!
Anishinaabemowin and Culture Instructor: Michael Zimmerman Jr. is an enrolled member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians of Michigan and Indiana. He has formerly worked as their Tribal Historic Preservation Officer, Tribal Historian, lead Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act consultant, a teacher at the Ojibwe Language and Culture Instructor at the Indian Community School of Milwaukee, consultant of the Potawatomi language for his band and Forest County as well as a language instructor at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. He will be teaching Ojibwe at ISD 166 in Cook County in the fall of 2023.
